McDonald's All-American Game

I caught most of the the McDonald's game a few nights ago and while the game was junk for the most part(no defense played at all), both Freemand and Wright showed a few flashes. I thought they did and both executed some excellent passes to teammates coming off cuts and screens.

On cautionary note about Wright. I haven't had the opportunity to check the box score, but I know he was fouled on at least one occasion and missed both free throw attempts.
It is too early to assess whether he is a weak free throw shooter, but if you revisit my scouting report from the WCAC championship game, you will see that he missed a disproportionately high number of attempts in that game. We'll have to see how this bears out. Just something to keep an eye on.

Hopefully this is something he can work on over the summer.

I wanted to note that Austin Freeman was the runner-up in the McDonald's All-Americans Slam Dunk Contest. Though we reported Chris's victory in the 3-point shooting competition, we have not previously congratulated Austin for his high-flying antics. I did not have an opportunity to see the contest myself, and I know that slam dunk contests are not a good barometer of a player's skill. Still, I think it is a testament to the athleticism of our new recruit.

I have to imagine that if Chris Wright can win the McDonald's All-American Three-Point Shooting Contest, he can learn to hit free throws. With his stroke, it just shouldn't be too hard.
