Georgetown Hoyas Crack the Top 25

The ESPN/USA Today poll for the week of February 5th just came out. After a long absence, the Hoyas return to the Top 25 as the No. 23 team in the land.

UPDATE: The AP poll is out. The Hoyas are No. 22 there.

This is certainly good news. Our re-emergence in these polls is due to our steady play of late and, let's face it, so far a favorable BE schedule.

I don't want to overlook Louisville, but the road certainly gets tougher starting Sat. and I would love to see us notch a few wins against a couple of quality teams before talking of tournament runs.

The ND victory is really the only one I would classify as a high-quality win so far. Our other games with highly touted opponents--Duke, Pitt, and to a lesser degree Oregon (I don't believe Oregon was ranked when we played them) and Villanova all resulted in losses.

Let's hope we take it to Louisville!!!

I think Notre Dame's loss to South Florida takes some of the bloom off of that rose. Basically, we need to win the next three games to be considered an elite team this year. There is no reason we can't, although I worry about fatigue with the games so close together. I think we can shoot for 11 or 12 conference wins this year. Anyone who saw Cuse versus UConnvict last night can tell you that those teams are only a notch above Rutgers, St.John's, et al. They should be relatively easy double digit wins. I think that We will beat Cinci again too. Yes, the schedule gets tougher, but it is far from tough from here on out. If we play our game, we win; if we come out sluggish and sloppy, we lose. It is all up to the guys.
