Great win in McDonough
It was great to see a packed McDonough for tonight's game. Everywhere the camera went there were students right on top of the action. Does anyone know if we'll get any more NIT games on campus?
If UNLV had won, we'd have played them in McDonough. South Carolina won, though, so we have to travel there. I have no idea why. Two things I loved about the game: (1) the announcers said they had to have their headphones on in order to communicate it was so loud; (2) when Hoyas took freethrows the place became so quite Mike Jarvis began whispering as if he was calling a golf match. True home court advantage -- finally! I wish we could play all of our games there.
It was the most fun Georgetown game that I watched in years. I loved seeing the students into the game. To be honest, the students' cheering (and numbers) were probably not that different from what you'd see at a normal MCI Center game, but the location made all the difference.
I think it was good to see / hear the crowd as I agree w/ Jester's point that the crowd size if it were held at MCI would not have been much larger. It's good too see some good TV exposure for campus. But, watching the game made me realize how badly we need a respectable looking home court on campus.

Oh, and I love this from the AP:
"A standing-room only crowd of 2,604 packed the gym, and their chants and roars tested the limits of decibel tolerance in a way never heard at MCI."
