re: Recruits and Freshman

Diamond,

Can you pls post some additional background info about Wright and Freeman? I would like to know more about them (where they are from, what HS they play for, summaries and opinions of their on-court skills and strenghts, weaknesses)? Also will we have other recruits/incoming freshman next year or just Wright and Freeman?

Also, other than the Big Ticket, can you pls remind us who our new freshman are this year and what impact, if any, you expect them to have?

Here is Dick Weiss's take on them:

They are both guards, but Wright is more a point -- I think he is listed at 6'1, 190 -- and Freeman is a shooting guard -- 6'5 and 230, I think. Both can light it up. Freeman is a McDonald's lock (national top 10 player); Wright has a 50/50 shot (top 25 type). Freeman is known for his mid-range game, but is a complete player -- his only flaw is that he is not super quick -- but he is very strong. The knock of Wright is that he is streaky as a shooter, but is lightning quick. And when he gets going from outside he is unstoppable and scores in bunches. The two have known each other for a long time and Freeman played a big role in Wright's recruitment. Everybody has been calling them the dream backcourt for years now. And when the Wolfpack faithful ran off Herb, it became a possibility.

On the freshmen, I don't really know what to expect. The Big Ticket and Summers were both top 25 recruits. But they play positions currently filled by future lottery picks. If he is able, we could really use Rivers to step in and provide some minutes at point. I'm hopeful all three see pt if only to work them into the system and to give our juniors a breather. The sleeper for this year will be Tyler -- look for him to step it up big time.
