The new polls just came out. I didn't expect us to crack the top 25. But I have to say that I'm a little disappointed that we did not even get a single vote!
That basically says to me that the powers-that-be think our win was a fluke.
Definitely a slap in the face.

Haven't seen the new rankings as of yet; however, not to be voice of pessimism, but based on the disparity between our performance against Duke & USF, i would think that we need to prove to ranking peeps that we are consistent in a good way.
agree w/ your prior post that the cuse of overrated. i would think wins over ND & Cincy will result in us finding ourselves a top 20 team in next week's rankings.
Uh, we got 38 votes in the ESPN/USA Today poll, making us #27. The AP poll hasn't come out yet.
That said, rankings are stupid. GW had beaten a mediocre Maryland team, got blown out by a good N.C. State team and done nothing else and they're in the top 20. Seriously, they have to get the paper tiger of the year award. Once again, like last year, if they don't win their conference tourney they don't dance. And even when they dance, they'll lose in the first round. The voters are idiots. Louisville, Cuse, Boston College, North Carolina -- these are not top 25 teams. Luckily, the selection committee doesn't care about the polls.
The AP just came out. We're #21.
My bad.
I noticed that the updated rankings weren't on ESPN.com so I checked out CNN-SI. They said it had been updated this morning, and showed the teams current records, so I thought it was this week's rankings.
Apparently not.
I apologize for any confusion I caused.
And, while ranking may be dumb, I think people give them more credence than you think. The polls help guide the selectors on who to watching during the season.
haven't seen the rankings yet, but 21, while great, seems a bit high just yet. #27 seems more realistic.
agree that cuse should NOT be ranked at this juncture. however, rankings now are cool, but irreleveant. i'd rather be a top 20 team heading into the big east tourney.
For the IPB:
Evidently Red missed the game because he was in the hospital, but Big John reported that Red was "grinning from ear to ear" when he saw him -- obviously pleased with the outcome.
From Kentucky Dan:
I am exceptionally happy with the result. I think if the guys get the on campus thing going and JT III gets his players in place the program can return to the top 25 year in and year out. In the Big East that is about the best anyone can hope for - what a conference it is right now. I expect the win to really revitalize a lot of aspects of the program. Hoya Saxa!!!!
