Pitt!

Wow - another fantastic win! Do you think this pretty much guarantees a trip to the tourney?

Assuming we win 3 of our next 7 (I think 10 BE wins is a lock), I say yes!

It would take a collapse even more epic than last year's to keep us out of the tourney. The way we are playing, I just don't see it. I think realistically we want to get to 11 wins so we don't have to worry one bit about the BET. That means beating St.John's, Rutgers, and Cuse at MCI and SFU away -- very doable. The game, btw was incredible. Absolutely deafening home crowd. The students are so into this team; we never saw anything approaching this under Esh or JTII. My ears are still ringing. We were down big in the first half b/c Pitt's center Grey was having his way with Roy. JTIII made some great half-time adjustments and pulled Roy, had Green play at the top of the key where Grey couldn't guard him and doubled down on Grey whenever he touched the ball. It worked like a charm. He didn't score once in the second half. Like the Duke fans after that game, the consensus of Pitt fans was that they lost because JTIII outcoached their coach. He was just masterful. The ending gave me palpatations but DO hit the big free throws when it counted. This is our third win when our opponent had a chance to tie with a 3 at the end and didn't do it (SFU & Duke being the other two). We kept our composure and JTIII figured out how to attack Pitt. We are a very good team with a GREAT coach. I can't believe that we were circulating the petition less than two years ago. HOYA F'N SAXA!!!

Oh and another fun detail of the game: The IPB brought a die-hard Pitt fan to the game as his guest in the alumni section. This individual donned a Pitt jersey and cheered lowdly during Pitt's 20-point first-half run. He sat down after being advised by the alumnus sitting behind me to "sit down you asshole."
