That is a pretty big foul-up for UMD...you would think that they would do a better job checking into things before booting one of their best recruits to the curb.
From a Hoya perspective I'd rather not see that kind of solid talent head to a Big East rival, but that's life I guess.
That was my first instinct too, but I think Nova is actually a pretty good destination for a few reasons. First, Maryland is our #1 competitor in terms of recruiting. Any screw up by them is good for us. Second, whenever top talent leaves the ACC for the Big East, that's a good thing. Third, Nova, St. John's, GU, DePaul, and the other non-DIA football schools need to be competitive or else the rest of the Big East is going to kick us out in 2010. The success of the Catholic/"basketball only" institutions is key. That said, Nova is freakin' scary! They might be the odds on favorite to win the national title this year.
If you go on any message board for the DI-A football schools, they are licking their chops at getting out of the Big East and that includes UConn and Cuse. I have no idea where this comes from but there is a belief that they will be better off as a unified league. It seems really foolish to me; with the exception of Louisville they all suck in football.

Do you really think that the Big East would kick us out?
What's the source for that speculation?
It is actually the conventional wisdom, although Tranghese is trying to counter it.
