Trouble in Terp Town

First, they fail to make the post-season with a stacked team last year. Then in the off-season, JTIII starts sucking up the local talent, particularly Summers, who's been the best player in Maryland for the last two years. Now, one of their best players may be headed to jail. This brings us to the rhetorical question: Who is worse, a Terp Perp or a U Con?

Doesn't sound like a real serious incident. Still, it begs the question, what the hell is up with college basketball players? I thought kids went to school to try to get away from the problems of the streets, not to bring the problems of the streets to school.

through in the baylor incident for good measure & you've got to start to wonder if some programs need to reel in players. point in case, our beloved hoyas used to live in apartments (2 per) until JTII got wind of some liberties that they were taking with some female guests (caveat - i'm basing this off of conversations with some of the 5th year seniors on the track team our freshman year who were tight with the likes of AI, Othella, Jerome, etc.) Although i don't believe anything ever happened, JT did have the common sense to change the living situation so as to mitigate the chances of something happending.

i don't mean to advocate coaches monitoring players constantly. players should be adults with some sense of morality (or maybe legality). but look at how often this happens in college football. players at big programs get away w/ a lot of shit, which fosters the warped attitude that being an athlete somewhat changes the standards.
